We are proud to be able to be to say that Yangon University of Education (YUOE) is the
leading university of teacher educaiton sector in Myanmar with a history of 87 years of
formation and development, taking the prime resonsibility in producing high school teachers
and chairing the Academic Board of Studies of three education universities and 25 education
colleges. Moreover, it is the leader of the working group of the development for Teacher
Comptencies Standard Framewrok (TCSF) which is to be used as a guide in supporting the
design and upgrading teacher education curricula, training courses and programmes, as well
as teacher’s professional appraisal and prfessional development.
With the vision “to train teachers, researchers and educationists capable of producing lifelong
learners who can generate able citizens to create a learning society”, YUOE is a professional
univeristy with a social mission via solid and sound educaitonal philosophy throughout
the past decades. Therefore, we are nurturing the competent and innoivative teachers who
can contribute excellent and dynamic services to society. “Teacher” is the one who is the
expert in the subject matter content as well as the person keen in padegocial knowledge. We,
accordingly, make sure our academic programmes that implement the quality programmes
which are almost the same with regional and international benchmarks in teacher education.
These competence-based curriculum and programmes ensure the student’s competency and
make them relevant to the demands of the modern age.
We create and apply knowledge informed by education research on human development,
educational policy, educational management and pedagogy. We proudly distinguish
ourselves from the other education universities and colleges by providing the students access
to interdisciplinary research based projects, pedagogies of reflective thinking, engagement with highly academic enrichment and social enrichment activities, career guidance, and
internationalized experiences. YUOE has been trying to expand academic programmes
and widen the field and sphere of academic circles and it is making good uses of efforts
to strengthen the current infrastructure. We are now at great pains to nurture our students
to become well qualified and efficient teachers and educationists in national and global
community and we take it as our honour.
